OFFICER REPORTS Secretary Lauren Furman Board members will receive the most updated version of the District Directory when they return home. It now includes 20 schools, and Lauren is now working on the harder-to-reach schools. Thanks to everyone who helped make putting the directory together a little easier: John for helping with formatting and Lieutenant Governors for updating me on what contact information they had. Treasurer Chris Robert Chris is currently answering treasurers questions when he is contacted. He is also available to help out wherever his assistance is needed. Editor Dave Dirks Daves goal is to compile all the articles he needs for the next edition of Kapers within the week. He plans to talk to editors who are at IDEAS about sending him articles. Kapers will go out as soon as possible, following his collection of all the articles. Citrus Lieutenant Governor Maggie Gilson: Maggie has been working on getting in contact with the clubs in her division. She reported that Florida Southern is doing great. Southeastern and Florida Southern are working very well together. Evergold Lieutenant Governor: (There is now officially a vacancy; report given by Assistant Administrator John Sullivan) PBCC is meeting regularly. They recently had a social after one of their meetings. John is focusing on how he can replace the leadership of the club once the president leaves. Northwood has struggled, due to a lack of dedicated student leadership. They are currently trying to get a full board of officers. FAU is here this weekend. DeVry has 35 members and is pushing to get 50. Panhandle Lieutenant Governor Ramon Snow UWF is doing great. They average four service projects per week and have implemented several new programs, including the Big K Little K Program, Happy Change, and Rent-A-CKIer. FSU is working on reaching out into the greater FSU community. They hope to have a large service project that focuses on the theme of Thanksgiving soon. They will also be helping local Kiwanis clubs establish a Tallahassee Miracle League Field. FAMU is no longer continuing as a club. Sunbelt Lieutenant Governor: Kaitlyn Duke USF-Tampa has been going downhill for quite some time, and they have now hit rock bottom. Kaitlyn would like to get in contact with them. The University of Tampa is doing great. They have 30 dues paid members, have had two fundraisers, and are going to start doing happy cents. Suncoast Lieutenant Governor James Eisele: James has visited every club in his division at least twice, with the exception of Eckerd College. He is currently speaking with the Habitat for Humanity in Bradenton because he would like to work with them on a Youth Build project. Eckerd College has 12 active club members and has been participating in the Miracle League Foundation. At Edison, James helped out during club rush week, and the club received about 20 names of people interested in joining, but they are having trouble finding a place to meet. Two of their members are at IDEAS. FGCU has twenty plus members and has seven members at IDEAS. MCC has 28 members in their club, and 17 of them are in attendance at IDEAS. They have many service projects planned for the near future. SPC is working on club building and currently has 12 active members. They are working on filling their board positions. James is still working on getting in contact with USF-Sarasota. He is holding his 5th DCM this weekend. Suwannee Lieutenant Governor Ty Morton: UF is doing great. They just had a dodge ball tournament fundraiser that went along with the Governors Project theme. Among other projects, they have a Trick-or-Treat for the Homeless project coming up (on Halloween). At UNF, Amanda (the president) and her board are working on recruitment. Ty is having some difficulty with Santa Fe because they dont seem to want to be involved with UF. VII. COMMITTEE CHAIR REMARKS Con/Con Chair Kadie Hayward: Kadie thanked everyone for helping out. She thanked Amber for working on getting speakers to IDEAS and Sonia for taking care of the public relations. Now it is time to focus on DCON. Chairs for the different DCON committees will be announced tomorrow. Public Relations Chair Sonia Gabrilovich: Sonia is planning on making a DCON video. It will possibly be a series of videos. She was very pleased with how the IDEAS promotion went. She showed us a video of bloopers from the IDEAS promotional video. Projects Chair Amber Thacker: Amber reported that as a district, we have currently performed 293 hours of service towards the Governors Project. This year, she would like us to renovate a playground as our LSSP. She wants to go somewhere we dont usually go. She has been talking with the president of FIU about having it in that area. We would possibly stay overnight in a church. Club Building Chair Brian Rigney: Brian got a chance to talk to President Chelsea Staff at an Edison University barbeque. He also reported that we made several dollars of profit from selling the I Love My District T-shirts. Awards Chair Luis Zamot Luis will be sending out awards information when he returns from the board meeting. KCI to CKI Chair Krystal Weaver Krystal recently attended a few Key Club kickoffs, as well as the Key Club Division 17 DCM and received contact information from seniors. She made a presentation about CKI for Key Clubbers to see and a presentation about Key to College to be shown tomorrow. Florida Gulf Coast also recently did a presentation for Key Clubs. Krystal is currently working on a list of senior Key Clubbers who will be attending college next year. MD&E Chair Nadina Tackore Nadina is currently working on a club officers manual. Also, she plans to work with the Lieutenant Governors on membership development and education. They have sent her information about which clubs they believe are their weakest so that she can work on improving this. Director of Technology Tochi Dike Tochi is currently updating the website. There is new software that has caused her great problems with it, and she now has to completely redo the website. K-Family Relations Chair Lindsay Lucado Lindsay is giving a presentation tomorrow about the Seasons of Service. She is currently working on getting directories from the sponsored youth. VIII. Administrator Remarks: Administrator Wade Shrack Everyone is doing a great job. Keep up the great work! IX. Governors Remarks: Governor Alex Garner While we are at IDEAS, we need to make sure we talk to people we havent met before, especially those who are from clubs that dont usually come to district functions. We need to make them feel welcome! Also, we should all continue to do what we love to do: service and talking about service. X. CKI Pledge XI.
